Manzanita Lake
Manzanita Lake is situated just south of Highway 89, about 50 miles east of Redding in the beautiful Lassen National Park. This lake is not stocked but holds some fine trophy rainbows. When the ice thaws in the spring feeding becomes quite heavy. No motorized boats are allowed. This is an excellent float tube lake with plenty of open water and fairly easy lake access. McCloud Lake
Lake McCloud is located approximately 80 miles southeast of Redding at an elevation of 3,000 feet. McCloud has a surface area of 520 acres and a spectacular rocky pine covered shoreline. All boating is permitted and the lake has one improved launch facility. There is one small unimproved campground located at Star City Creek. McCloud is a very popular lake for fishing and holds a large number of trophy rainbow and brown trout. For more information contact McCloud Ranger District at (530) 964-2184. Medicine Lake
Medicine Lake is located approximately 50 miles northeast of McCloud off of Highway 89 in the beautiful Modoc National Forest at an elevation of 6,700 feet. Once the center of a volcano, this 640 acre lake is said to be at least 150 feet deep in places. There are four well maintained campgrounds located at the lake suitable for tent, RV, or group camping. All boating is allowed as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming, There is one improved and two unimproved launch ramps located around the lake. Mendocino Lake
Lake Mendocino is located approximately 65 miles northeast of Santa Rosa on the east fork of the Russian River above Coyote Dam at an elevation of 750 feet. Mendocino has 15 miles of oak covered shoreline and a surface area of 1,740 acres. There are several campgrounds located around the lake well suited for tents, trailers, RV's, or group camping. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming. There are two improved launch ramps and a full service marina with boat rentals and concessions available. As for the fisherman Lake Mendocino is very well know for the excellent striped bass and huge channel catfish action. Mendocino also holds a good population of bluegill, crappie, and smallmouth bass. Oroville Lake
Lake Oroville is located approximately 75 miles northeast of Sacramento on the famous Feather River at an elevation of 950 feet. Lake Oroville has 15,500 surface acres and 169 miles of oak and chaparral covered shoreline. There are many camping facilities from improved with full hookups to boat-in located at the lake accommodating tents, RV's, or groups camping. All boating is permitted as well as overnight boating, water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming. For the angler Oroville offers a wide variety of fishing including Coho and king salmon, trout, bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish.
